Liberate Music & Arts Festival 2009 - thumbs up

Wow, we threw a music festival!
Liberate Music & Arts Festival II was a success and an adventure.
Liberate is music, yoga, good intention, art, local foods- good people came. 1,000 or so new friends on-site. Ryan Montbleau headlined Friday night and the New Deal headlined Saturday. All day long, people enjoyed yoga, music, and being free.
Liberate III is August 20 and 21, 2010.
The capacity that Ben, the staff, and I have for hard work may have been unclear to me before. Now I see, we can do anything. So can you! Thank you to our helpers and our sponsors, who helped us produce Liberate Music & Arts Festival.
Stay tuned for the 2nd annual Burlington Yoga Conference on May 01, 2010.

Happiness is a choice: You Have the Power!

Some days, being happy feels easier than others. Happiness may sometimes feel far away or difficult to attain. First you must realize that happiness is a choice you can make each day. You have the power. As you discover new ways and sources to find happiness each day, the fact that happiness exists within the world becomes clearer. Today, identify just one thing, person, or place that makes you feel happy, grateful, and alive- let these feelings fill your heart. This way your happiness comes from within and moves out.

Ride the Wave

When you practice yoga postures and invite yourself into stillness, begin to notice the constant flow of energy within you and around you. Sense that you can not pinpoint the perfect yoga pose because it is ever-changing and so are you, each breath, each moment, each practice.

Notice how you can invite feeling good into each pose; yoga is about coming to your edge and relaxing into it so that this skill is available to you always. When you are being challenged most, find your breath, soften, and ride the wide of sensation. It will change.

Through yoga, take agency in your life and also open yourself to limitless possibility. Hatha yoga begins first with the physical body, establish proper form and rhythmic breath. As your body begins to align, open, and strengthen, so too does your mind and spirit.

Throughout the day, the ups and downs, recall your yoga and deeply know: this too shall pass. Within you exists balance, breath, and peace.

Shanti!

Healing my way Home

"What if you didn't heat or ice? What if you did not take the IB Profin?" Julieta looked me in the eyes as she asked.

"Um..." I stumbled a bit.

Julieta's eyes sparkle with warmth, unlike other blue eyes I have seen which pierce like ice. I continued to answer, "Probably the same thing would happen. I'd come in for my adjustment..."

She said, "Lie down," as she began my network chiropractic session and continued, "It's about empowering your body to heal itself. Try to sit with the pain before you heat or ice. Try to see what happens if you skip the medicine. Sit with it." Julieta briefly explained to me that taking medicine can be like removing the batteries from a smoke alarm to stop the noise, but fire may still burn.

Strong food for thought about self-healing and riding the wave.

Why did Julieta's voice come to me a couple of nights ago when I needed to find calm? Why do I feel like I am in a light bubble on her table?

Julieta confirmed, "Jane, your body is healing itself, your spine is releasing old habits and patterns." This physical transition might explain why I felt so tender yesterday and how I could feel better today.

As my astrolger Lydia told me about my 26th year, I am facing many goodbyes. Though I originally feared I may lose friends and family, it turns out I am shedding old pain, regrets, and long-held beliefs which only serve to get in my way. This year, without even consciously trying, through the practice of yoga, releasing my expectations and doubts-I've cultivated emotional balance and gratitude.

I encourage you all to find teachers, people, and healing arts practitioners who inspire you and make you feel good. True healers are gurus who exude good vibrations and karmas.

I have always wanted a guru but I have never sought one out. Each day I meet many teachers.

I sense I am getting closer to something or someone... Tears filled my eyes during the adjustment and I felt like I was home.

Sailing Center Yoga Dock

Yoga at the Dock is going to be lovely! Join me beginning this TU (June 2) or any TU and TH morning this summer (7-8:15 am)- and get your day off to a good start.

Head down to the waterfront and turn onto the street where Skinny Pancake is located. Stay straight toward the skateboard park. Pass through the two brick buildings ahead, following signs toward SAILING CENTER, park in the lot behind these two buildings, just near the Sailing Center dock and fishing pier!

Any questions, drop me a line jane@empvt.com
